Keeping watch of water flows17th Oct 08

City West Water's major water-using customers are being provided with smart meters to help them save water.

The meters, known as WaterGuard from Watersave Australia, are installed at customer sites as part of a $405, 000 project funded by the Department of Sustainability and Environment.

The meters provide customers with instant (or 'real time') volumetric monitoring, and continuous water use data on their computers.

This will help customers better understand their water use and enable them to prepare daily, weekly or monthly water consumption information as required.  Customers will be able to identify disruptions such as leaks and respond more quickly to them.

The project includes buying and connecting the meters to the top 104 City West Water customer sites and funding maintenance for one year.
